Picture of face
Click the image above to get the animation from the IRTC servers. This animation was entered in the October/December 1997 Internet Ray-Tracing Competition for the theme of Metamorphosis. This was my first animation, at a meager four seconds (120 frames) long. Be sure to notice the link to "View previous rounds" on the IRTC page, or you may miss the hundreds of incredible submissions that reside there!

Given about two weeks to do three months worth of work, including learning how to do animations, finding an mpeg encoder, and writing code to generate the waveforms in the animation, it wasn't too bad.

I was attempting, not very successfully, to show a metamorphosis taking place in a face, hidden behind the shimmering of a reflecting pool. Aside from the face being almost featureless in the reflection, the animation being far too short, and the connection with 'metamorphosis' being almost nonexistant, I think it was a good first try. Hopefully my next additions here will be a testament to progress.
