Mathematics of Scale: Animation and Description

Click the image above to get the animation from the IRTC servers. This animation was entered in the November/January 1998-9 Internet Ray-Tracing Competition for the theme of Microcosms. This was my fourth animation, in which I tried to show some interesting patterns that repeat in nature as you change scales.

This animation basically speaks for itself -- I was very happy with how it turned out, though there are a couple technical errors if you know where to look. The last segment didn't turn out quite as well as I'd hoped, but alas. I'll eventually describe what all of the numbers and shapes represent...

This also won an Honorable Mention for concept from the IRTC.
